Quality Policy Statement
TheCompany aims to develop and maintain an effective and efficient service thatsatisfies the needs of the most exacting client/customer in a timely and costeffective manner. This is achieved by consistently conforming to agreedrequirements, policies and procedures.
Itis the policy of the Company to provide and maintain safe and healthy workingconditions, equipment and systems of work for all employees and suchinformation, training and supervision as may be needed. In doing so the Companywill endeavour to meet clients/customers' expectations and where possible,respond to unplanned requirements as quickly as possible.
The QE Manual describes the Quality System in operationat Williams Shipping Holdings Ltd. It explains the way in which the system isoperated and defines those employees responsible for the performance of qualityrelated tasks within the company.
The quality system is the means by which the Companysupports its policy of providing to its customers a high quality service inaccordance with all relevant standards and customer requirements and to providethese products on time.
It is Company policy to review the suitability of thequality system to ensure it reflects current operations, and where necessary toimplement additional changes.
The Company is committed to meeting the requirements ofISO9001:2008 and will continue to review opportunities to improve systems andoperations to ensure there is continual improvement.
Environmental Policy Statement
WilliamsShipping is an environmentally conscious company. As a multi disciplinedorganisation we recognise the impact of our operations on the environment andtherefore strive to achieve a high standard of environmental performance and tobe committed to continual improvement. Priority will be given to preventing andreducing pollution, emissions and waste to their lowest practicable levels andwe will promote and maintain correct waste collection, disposal and recyclingarrangements across our operations.
To assist in achieving this objectiveWilliams Shipping has implemented andmaintains a documented Integrated Management System. This has introducedsystems that will set, achieve and review measurable environmental objectives.
Thecompany will fully comply with the duties placed upon it within therequirements of statutory legislation and approved guidance. This takes intoconsideration legislation produced and enforced by the Maritime CoastguardAgency.
Allemployees will be provided with the necessary resources, equipment, instructionand training to carrying out their duties with concern for the environment. This Policy is communicated to all staff(and sub-contractors) through e.g. notice boards, staff induction and training.All sub-contractors are expected to comply with this policy andco-operate fully with all company arrangements for the protection of theenvironment. This policy is availableto all stakeholders through the website.
Allenvironmental incidents/accidents at a work location will be fully reported,investigated and submitted to the board of directors for appropriate correctiveand preventive action to be agreed and implemented.
TheDirectors have overall responsibility for all environmental matters. Theoperation of this policy and all procedures will be monitored and reviewed on aregular basis to ensure that they remain current and applicable to ouractivities.
HEALTH & SAFETYPOLICY STATEMENT
Thisrevision of the company ‘Health & Safety Policy’ follows the requirementsof the 1999 Management of Health & Safety Regulations and 1992 WorkplaceHealth Safety & Welfare Regulations.
These,and indeed other existing Health & Safety regulations within the 1974 Act,require the identification, assessment, and control of risks. Williams ShippingHoldings Ltd fully supports this approach as it is in the best interests of thecompany, its employees, its customers and those who may be affected by theirwork activities. This includes all contractors and where appropriateConstruction (Design & Management) Regulations 1994 as amended 2000. Alsoobservance of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
WilliamsShipping Holdings Ltd accepts its responsibilities to ensure, so far as isreasonably practicable, the health and safety of all of its employees whilst atwork. Health and Safety will be given equal priority with other corporatebusiness issues.
ThePolicy sets out the following three main objectives:-
1. Toprovide the framework for developing a safety culture and environmentalprotection awareness within the company including adequate financial resources.This will include information, instruction & training, adequatesupervision, safe working environment, safe systems, safe access & egressto work areas, carrying out suitable risk assessments and consultation withemployees (Health & Safety Consultation with employees Regulations 1996).
2. Tospecify management / supervisor and employee responsibilities which includesafety responsibilities to themselves and to others who may be affected bytheir acts or omissions. To co-operate with their employer in complying withtheir statutory duties Sec.7 1974 Health& Safety at Work Act. And to take necessary steps to ensure that all risksare adequately controlled ‘so far as is reasonably practicable’.
3. Tosecure the co-operation of Clients, Suppliers, Contractors and the involvementof all employees in achieving safeworking environments incorporating safe systems of work leading to control ofpotential accidents and protection of the environment.
Employees must also refer to the appropriatecompany health and safety and operational information relating to their workactivities. This information is contained in the employee handbook.
Thispolicy will be subject to regular review, updating and amendment as legislationor relevant changes in the company proceduresand methods occur. The policy and any amendments will be communicated to theemployees.
