Williams Shipping has added an additional 2000 sqm to their cargo yard through careful planning – achieved by some demolition work and reconfiguration.

In addition, they have invested in 2 new pieces of heavy lifting equipment

  • New Kalmar 45 tonne reach stacker.
  • New Kalmar 17 tonne counter-balance forklift

Both these items have Euro 5 engines and improved safety features.

Full improved safety features for the reach stacker are:

  • Improved visibility from the cabin
  • Cameras for improved vision in blind spots
  • Verified Gross Mass system & overload protection
  • Improved LED lighting
  • Automatic braking system

Both will run on HVO (Hydro treated vegetable oil) 100% renewable diesel with lower emissions and can reduce co2 emissions by 90%

What is HVO?

  • Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil
  • It is a fossil free alternative which means there is 90% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions
  • It is low carbon, low emission and sustainable
  • Our HVO is typically produced from used cooking oils

 

Our Cargo Operation

Improvements in the yard have increased our external storage capacity and allows us to achieve a higher throughput of cargo for imports and exports and shorter lead times.

Our cargo handling operation focuses on import and export work – made simple by our location adjacent to the Port of Southampton.

We are experts in handling cargo of all shapes and sizes for our customers.

Our Cargo Handling team is multiskilled with expertise in lashing for transport by sea, handballing, and container handling. Cargo, including out of gauge and abnormal items, are collected on flat racks from the port, and transported back to our base where they are lifted off using our heavy lifting plant.

We have a wealth of experience managing cargo and projects moves of all shapes and sizes and can arrange all the necessary permits, escorts, and routing. For more complex projects, a dedicated project manager will be assigned to oversee the move from start to finish and liaise with all parties.

OUR LOCATION

From two strategically located bases in Southampton, we operate a fleet of specialist vehicles & equipment to support our growing cargo handling service. Our logistics HQ is located adjacent to Southampton Western Docks, with easy motorway access for third party hauliers.

200m of quayside storage is available from our marine base at Southampton’s Eastern Docks, providing direct access to ships, barges, and other marine vessels.

 

TRANSPORT

We operate a road haulage service providing specialist and abnormal load transport across Europe. Our transport fleet includes STGO trucks up to 80t and a range of specialist trailers.

Our marine division operate a fleet of marine vessels including workboats, tugs and flat-top barges, including a 75m shallow-water cargo vessel. This enables us to transport cargo by coastal sea or inland waterways as well as by road.

Our drivers are highly knowledgeable and experienced in roping, sheeting and securing loads of all shapes and sizes, catering for our customer’s individual haulage requirements

STORAGE & WAREHOUSING

With over 3000m² of enclosed warehouse facilities, we provide a diverse range of storage solutions for the marine and shipping markets.

We provide open storage facilities at our bases in Southampton, ideally located for project moves and cargo shipping. For import / export trade, we operate HMRC compliant customs warehouse units. All our sites are fitted with CCTV and alarm systems to ensure the highest level of security.
