Cargo Planner

Our cargo team is growing, and we are now looking for an experienced planner to join us. This will be a key role, planning all items of cargo coming into our busy yard, where we receive, load, lash & secure all types of cargo onto flat racks and/or containers for onward transportation.

Our cargo yard is located at Dock Gate 20 in Southampton, and handles all sorts of different types of cargo, from smaller items which need to be consolidated into loads or shipping containers, to large abnormal items requiring an individual approach.  With a range of on-site heavy lifting equipment and specialist lashing systems, our team can cope with any unique demands of outsized cargo. Our experience is in handling cargo for both road and sea transportation, both of which have very different requirements.

What you can expect from the role:

You will be working in a small team undertaking a variety of different tasks, including:

• Taking customer enquiries over the telephone and by email
• Booking container delivery and collection slots with the port
• Planning all aspects of the cargo yard including cargo loading, lashing, de-vanning & storage
• Liaising closely with our transport team to arrange the onward journeys of the cargo

What we are looking for in you:

• Experience with cargo and port operations
• Experience in planning
• Attention to detail
• Good IT & communication skills
• Problem solving
