Last week, our marine team had the privilege of participating in National Apprenticeship Week at Isle of Wight College. It was an opportunity to not only celebrate the achievements of our apprentices but also to showcase the invaluable contributions they bring to our company.

The highlight of our week was the networking event held in Cowes, where we had the chance to share insights into the progress and accomplishments of our marine apprentices. It was inspiring to see how these young individuals have thrived in their roles and how their dedication has propelled them towards success.

In the past year alone, four of our apprentices completed their qualifications and were offered permanent positions within our company. Witnessing their growth and seeing them choose to continue their journey with us was truly gratifying.

Currently, we have five marine apprentices diligently working towards their apprenticeship diplomas while gaining hands-on experience aboard our workboats. We believe in providing a supportive learning environment where they can apply their theoretical knowledge in real-world scenarios under the guidance of our seasoned specialists.

Approximately 20% of our marine crew members have either been apprentices or are currently enrolled in our apprenticeship program. This statistic underscores our commitment to nurturing talent and fostering a culture of continuous learning within our organisation.

Moreover, by opening our doors to apprenticeships, we are not only providing valuable skills and experience but also creating pathways for young people, including those from disadvantaged backgrounds, to access meaningful employment opportunities. We firmly believe that diversity and inclusivity are key to driving innovation and driving the marine industry forward.

Looking ahead, we are excited about the prospect of recruiting new apprentices for the year 2024. We are eager to continue our tradition of providing mentorship, guidance, and opportunities for personal and professional development to the next generation of marine professionals.

If you’re passionate about the marine industry and looking for a rewarding career path, we encourage you to consider joining our marine apprenticeship program and embark on a journey of discovery and growth with us. Together, let’s chart a course towards a brighter future for the marine industry.
